Arched Window Blinds

The arch is the best thing about the window. The first decision isn’t which blind — it’s whether to dress the curve at all.

Why It's Different

Rectangles don't fit curves

Everything off the shelf is square. An arch forces real decisions, and they are worth making deliberately.

  • 01The curve is one of a kindNo two arches measure the same. Anything that covers the curve is templated to that exact window, not cut from a chart.
  • 02Dress it or leave itA bare arch pours light in and looks superb. It also fades floors and wakes bedrooms at six in the morning. The room decides.
  • 03The working part is belowDay-to-day light control lives in the rectangle under the spring line. That part stays operable even when the arch above is fixed.
  • 04Fixed means fixedA templated arch-top is usually a fitted, stationary piece. If you’ll want it open and shut daily, that changes the design.
What Works

Three honest answers

Which one is right depends on what the arch does to the room at its worst hour.

Keep the arch

Treat the Rectangle Below

An operable shade — roman, cellular or roller — covers the working part of the window and stops at the spring line. The curve stays bare and does what it was built to do.

Why here: the arch stays the feature, and the room still gets privacy.

Arch-Top Templated Shades

A honeycomb shade made to the exact curve, usually as a fitted upper piece over an operable shade below. One fabric, top to bottom.

Why here: glare and fade control without losing the shape.

Sloped & Specialty Shapes

Angled walls, trapezoids and raked tops follow the same logic: template the shape, keep the daily controls where you can reach them. See the shade range.

Why here: the same discipline works on every odd window in the house.
Honestly

What we'd steer you away from

The gathered fan on a flexible rod

Fabric bunched around a bent rod inside the arch blocks the light permanently, collects dust where you can’t reach, and dates a room faster than any treatment we know.

If the arch needs covering, template it. If it doesn’t, leave it bare — half our arch consultations end exactly that way.

Questions

Arched window questions

The five that come up under every arch.

Not sure about your arch?

Send a photo of the whole window. We'll tell you whether we'd dress the curve or leave it alone.

Can you put blinds on an arched window?

Yes, two ways: an operable blind or shade on the rectangle below the spring line with the curve left bare, or a templated arch-top piece made to the exact shape of the curve above it.

Should I cover the arch or leave it open?

Leave it bare if the room can take the light — it's the window's best feature. Cover it where fade, glare or an early-waking bedroom argue otherwise. We'll tell you honestly which room you have.

Do arched window shades open and close?

The shade below the spring line does. The templated arch piece above is usually fixed in place — it's a fitted light filter, not a daily control.

How do you measure an arched window?

The curve is templated — traced to its exact shape — rather than measured to a formula. That happens during the free in-home consultation, and it's why a proper arch piece fits like it grew there.

Are arched window treatments more expensive?

More than a straight rectangle, yes — the arch piece is made to a one-off template. You'll have the exact figure in writing before anything is ordered.
